Albert Lee May 25th....
Albert Lee, by common consent one of the worlds finest guitar-players, needs no introduction to Country. Music & Rock fans. He has worked with some of the world's top artists, from Emmylou Harris to the Everly Brothers, Dolly Parton to Eric Clapton. In November 2002, at Eric's request, Albert appeared at the star-studded Memorial Concert for George Harrison at London's Albert Hall, and was featured alongside Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and Eric Clapton at Erics 2007 and 2010 Crossroads guitar festival. He is also a member of Bill Wymans Rhythm Kings, and fronted the band at the O2 arena on the night of the Led Zeppelin reunion concert. Albert is a double Grammy award winning musician, whose talents continue to be in demand by fellow performers the world throughout.

2012 Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive
Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers Cycling Club has announced that it is promoting the second annual Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive an event founded by the late Bobby Power who sadly passed away last year after illness, less than a month before the inaugural event took place. This major event for the Irish cycling season will take place on Sunday June 3rd 2012 and will be the toughest sportive held in Ireland this year.
The route entails a total of eight challenges over 160km of roads that pass through three counties and two provinces, with a finishing stretch of road that is our version of Paris Roubaix!

Clonmel Junction Festival 6th - 15th July 2012

South Tipperary Tourism has teamed up with the Tipperary Food Producers Network to present A Taste of Tipperary, a unique cookery experience profiling the high quality produce available locally in Tipperary.
A number of high profile Tipperary chefs will create some of their favourite dishes including Eileen Condon of Eileen Condon Catering, TJ Crowe of Crowes Farm Artesian Meats, Michael Karney from The Wytch Way Inn, Holycross and AnnMarie Walsh from The Tipperary Kitchen, Holycross. The evening will be hosted by highly experienced and entertaining, ex Fáilte Ireland Chef JJ Healy.
A Taste of Tipperary is a cookery demonstration with a difference, said Tony Musiol, chairman, South Tipperary Tourism.
Food tourism is a growing market both in Ireland and internationally, and we are at a particular advantage in Tipperary to have a wide range of local, high quality, niche food producers. Our Taste of Tipperary event will bring this message to everyone in Tipperary and encourage our restaurants, hotels, B&Bs, caterers, suppliers and the general public to support our local producers and promote Tipperary Food to visiting tourists.
Attendees on the night will be entered into a free draw to dine on stage alongside our chefs and to give a short critique of the food on offer. A range of food producers will also have stands at the event showcasing their produce.
South Tipperary Tourism are calling on the people of South Tipperary to support their work by attending A Taste of Tipperary which will take place in Brú Ború Cultural Centre, Cashel on May 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets are 15 and are available from The Heritage Centre, Cashel, The Heritage Centre, Carrick on Suir, The Craft Granary, Cahir, Brú Ború Cultural Centre, Cashel and Clonmel Tourist Office. Muscular Dystrophy Ireland (MDI) is delighted to announce the fifth cycle challenge around the stunning Lough Derg and through the beautiful Shannon region on Saturday, May 12th. The route is approximately 80 miles long with food and refreshment supplied throughout the day.
All levels of fitness are catered for and all are welcome to take part, have fun and raise money for Muscular DystrophyIreland. To date the cycle has raised over E9,000 for respite support services.
This years cycle is a month earlier than previous years on Saturday, May 12th in the hope of capturing more cyclists. It is starting at Two Mile Gate, Killaloe with registration open at 10am.

Cashel Community School Gala Fashion Show
The annual Gala Fashion Show in aid of the Cashel Community Schools Niall Mellon building blitz team 2012 will take place in the school hall on Friday, May 11, at 8.00 10.00pm. An added attraction this year will be the Shopping Experience, with 20 shops and stalls offering a wide range of fancy goods such as jewellery, bags, clothes, gifts, sweets, cards (homemade), fine foods, and delicacies. Shops and stalls will be open 6.45 8.00pm, while patrons enjoy their wine and soft drinks.
Fashion shops displaying their latest wears include, from Cashel ODwyers Kids, ODwyers Drapery, The Kilkenny Shop, Golden Threads, Fashion Express, Uptown Girl, Daverns, Koko, Tesco; Thurles Stakelums Menswear, Bourne, Tipperary GAA Shop, Imps & Elves; Clonmel Pamela Scott.
As the annual fashion show is the main fundraiser for the schools involvement in the Niall Mellon Trust charity work, all support will be most welcome.

SAINT Patricks Hospital Cashel and the End of Life Committee at South Tipperary General Hospital will be beneficiaries of a star studded charity rugby game being played in Cashel at 2pm on Saturday 12th May.
A number of former Munster, Irish and International players will be part of an All Stars team to face a Tipperary Tigers selection in Cashel Rugby Club grounds. The All Stars will be coached by the legendary Munster, Ireland and Lions prop John Hayes. The Tipperary Tigers a selection comprised of players from the Cashel, Clanwilliam, Clonmel, Fethard and Kilfeakle rugby clubs will be coached by Cashel native and 57 times Irish international flanker Denis Leamy.
The All Stars team will also feature former players such as: Munster, Ireland and Lions lock Mick Galwey, London Irish and Ireland flanker Ken O Connell, Munster and Leinster second row Stephen Keogh, Munster scrum half Mike Prendergast and Wasps and Barbarians prop Peter Bracken. Special guests on the day will be Munster, Ireland and Lions star Ronan O Gara and Munster and New Zealands Dougie Howlett.
The entrance fee of 10 will go towards supports at St. Patricks Hospital Cashel and the End of Life Committee at South Tipperary General Hospital fund. Childrens entertainment and a barbeque will also feature as part of the event designed to demonstrate the rugby communitys support for a very important cause. A band and choir will provide interval entertainment. A big attraction is a kicking competition at half time, where for 2 a go, members of the public can compete against the stars.


The Craft Granary, Cahir, will showcase the Tipperary Craft Gathering from May 17th to June 14th. This exhibition is a collection of craft promoting the awareness and quality of local contemporary and traditional craft by Tipperary Craft Network members.
It brings together the very best of Tipperarys unique craft makers and artists, from ceramicists, jewelers and textile-workers to furniture makers, wood turners and carvers, paper and felt makers, sculptors and many more....
The new Network is a voluntary group for professional craft makers in the Tipperary area whose goal is to make the Tipperary area a recognised craft destination, promoting the awareness and quality of local contemporary and traditional craft.
